Welcome to another enlightening episode of the Human Thrive Podcast, hosted by Amanda, the insightful founder of Neurodivergent Thrive Coaching. This episode delves deep into the eternal conflict within us all: the Ego versus the Higher Self. Amanda invites neurotypicals, neurodivergents, and those still exploring their identities to listen as she unpacks how your ego, though well-meaning, often limits your potential with its unyielding quest for safety and certainty.
We embark on a journey of understanding, starting with an exploration of the ego as described by Sigmund Freud. Amanda shines a light on the misconceptions surrounding the ego, revealing its role as an ever-watchful guardian fearful of the unknown. Next, she contrasts the quiet strength of our higher self—calm, loving, and aligned with our truest intentions.
Through a transformational personal narrative, Amanda shares a compelling story of a high-stakes presentation. Feel the tension as she prepares to enter the room, battling the voice of self-doubt and fear. Experience the heart-pounding anxiety that arises as her ego makes its last attempt to keep her safe and small. Through resilience, she channels the serenity and assurance of her higher self to master the moment, turning fear into triumph.
In this episode, listeners are encouraged to engage in a reflective challenge. Write a letter to your ego, thanking it for its service and informing it that the higher self is now in charge. Amanda urges you to take one bold step this week—something your ego would normally inhibit. Whether it's hitting publish, asking a question, or stepping beyond your comfort zone, let your soul lead.
As we conclude, remember that the ego is not an adversary, but a guide. Empower your higher self to steer your journey and discover a life filled with purpose and growth. Let's thrive together; dive into this powerful dialogue of inner wisdom and begin your transformation.

Unraveling Childhood Myths: A Journey to Personal Freedom
Thursday May 22, 2025
Thursday May 22, 2025
Welcome, my friends, to an empowering episode of the Human Thrive Podcast! I'm Amanda, your host and coaching consultant, founder of Neurodivergent Thrive Coaching. This episode is a call to anyone seeking clarity, growth, and emotional freedom, welcoming neurotypicals, neurodivergents, and anyone finding their way.
Together, let's dive into today's topic: Learning the lies told in childhood and rewriting our stories. We explore the profound impact of childhood beliefs on our adult lives, often limiting us in unseen ways. But fear not, for we hold the power to reshape our narratives.
Childhood is a time of impressionable learning, with our minds open and accepting. We unknowingly absorb words, actions, and preconceived notions, becoming programmed like computers. Aristotle's famous quote, "Give me a child until he is seven, and I will show you the man," underscores this truth. Environment and upbringing play crucial roles alongside genetics, shaping who we become.
Through poignant stories, I illustrate how familial beliefs—like the scarcity mindset around money—deeply influence us. But remember, this isn't about blame. Parents often struggle with their own conditioned beliefs and pass them down unknowingly. Recognizing these patterns is the first step towards change.
Men and boys, too, are impacted. The harmful conditioning to "man up," suppressing emotions, leads to long-lasting effects. Quoting Dr. Bruce Lipton, who suggests that up to 95% of our behavior is driven by the subconscious, it's evident that uncovering and challenging these subconscious scripts is key.
As a coach, I guide clients to awareness and rediscovery, tackling limiting beliefs and crafting new, empowering stories. From fears of public speaking rooted in during-school experiences to reshaping financial beliefs, the work begins by recognizing these patterns.
Stories of overcoming lead us to personal transformation. Through techniques like Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), reframing experiences, and creating new mental scripts, we replace outdated beliefs, rewiring our minds with the help of groundbreaking research on neuroplasticity.
Join us in imagining different past scenarios and forging new futures, embracing the belief that we are the authors of our lives. As we bid adieu to restrictive childhood beliefs, remember: Just because something was once true doesn't mean it must remain. We are becoming, not broken.
If this episode empowers you, share it with someone else on their path of transformation. And if you're ready for coaching support, let's connect. Until next time, stay brave, stay curious, and stay kind to your inner child.
